New website just the ticket for Curraghs Wildlife Park visitors

Wednesday, 7 May 2014

A new website – www.curraghswildlifepark.im/ – will allow visitors to the Curraghs Wildlife Park to book tickets and purchase memberships.

The feature is one of many that will make planning a visit to the park in Ballaugh easier for visitors.

One-day tickets, seven and 14-day passes and family tickets and memberships can all be purchased online.

Kathleen Graham, General Manger of the Curraghs Wildlife Park, said:

‘We are delighted with the website, which complements our popular Facebook page and Twitter feed. The website looks great on computers, tablets and mobile, is user-friendly and now allows customers to quickly find out what’s on and buy tickets in a way that’s convenient to them.

‘We can keep visitors up to date with opening hours, events, how to find us, birthday parties, ‘Wild Academy’ (the park’s summer school), animal experiences and so much more.’

Kathleen said:

‘We have worked hard to improve facilities, attractions and value for money. Membership at the park is at a record high and visitor numbers are strong.

‘Providing tickets online is an important step in encouraging even more people to visit us. We are also about to launch new membership cards, which will be electronically connected to members’ accounts. Moving away from a paper system means new members can pick up cards the day they join.’

Kathleen continued:

‘Tickets will cost the same to purchase online as at the gate and are not date-specific. For example, a family ticket, at £24, admits two adults and two children and can be purchased in advance, or even as a gift, and used on a nice, sunny day. We’ll scan tickets on arrival, ensuring a quick admission.’

Meanwhile, the benefits of memberships – which cost just £32 for an adult, £20 for a child and £85 for a family of two adults and two children – include unlimited access to the park when it’s open and 10% discount at the shop and on hot meals and hot drinks in the café.

‘We find that once people have joined as members, they visit the park far more frequently, so it is the best value for local residents,’

Kathleen said.

‘Some of our members are here almost every week.’

Phil Gawne MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, the Department that runs the park, commented:

‘I am delighted that we have this new online booking system in place, which will make it easier for both visitors and locals to plan their trips and to make the most of their precious leisure time without fear of wasting time in queues when they arrive. This reflects the Department’s determination to increase our contribution to amenity activity in our beautiful Island, which is an increasingly important part of what we do.’
