Tuesday, 7 January 2014

We are delighted to announce that the School has been shortlisted for the Zayed Future Energy Prize 2014, the world’s pre-eminent award for innovation in renewable energy and sustainability www.zayedfutureenergyprize.com

The School was last year’s runner-up in the European Global High School Prize Category. This year the School is a finalist alongside a school from Romania, selected from 552 entries. Each finalist was evaluated based on the prize criteria of ‘Innovation, Impact, Leadership and Long-term Vision’.

The winners will be announced at the Zayed Future Energy Prize awards ceremony on Monday, 20 January, as part of the annual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Head Teacher, Sue Moore, will be attending the World Energy Summit and Awards Ceremony together with Lesley Sleight, Head of Life Skills, and student Alex Eaton.

If our School were to win, the prize money of up to US$100,000 would help with a pioneering project to combine the School Biomass heating system with a wind turbine!
