Extension of time to register interest in sea services

Tuesday, 30 December 2014

The Department of Infrastructure has extended the closing date for shipping operators to register an initial interest in providing ferry and freight services to the Island in the future.

The deadline has been put back two weeks from 12 noon on Wednesday January 7 2015 to 12 noon on Wednesday January 21 2015. A formal notice to this effect is being published.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne MHK explained:

‘The Department has already received a number of responses to the original prior information notice published earlier this month. However, some of my political colleagues have suggested that a longer period should be provided for the registration of an initial interest, and I see no problem in extending the closing date for a couple of weeks.’

Minister Gawne added:

‘The prior information notice lists some key requirements that we envisage but it is by no means exhaustive. For example the notice does not mention Irish routes, but I can confirm that we will be looking at services to and from Ireland when we come to the final tender process.’
