On Saturday 5 October, the Noble’s Hospital Healing Arts Programme in conjunction with the Isle of Man Arts Council, invite you to a free piano recital by the award winning pianist Jamie Bergin, at 2pm at the Thie Bee Coffee Shop situated in the foyer of Noble’s Hospital.

This free piano recital will be performed by Jamie Bergin, a renowned artist who is currently completing his post-graduate studies at the the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hannover, under the watchful eye of celebrated German pianist, Lars Vogt.

Jamie, who is 24 years old, has won prestigious awards, including recently First Prize, the Audience Prize, and the prize for the Best Interpretation of a Commissioned Work at the famous European Piano Contest in Bremen. He regularly performs with orchestras across Europe such as the Manchester Camerata, gives recitals at major venues such as the Barbican, and has broadcast on Channel 4 and Bremen Radio.

The partnership between the Department of Health and the Arts Council makes it possible for the Healing Arts programme to run a rolling series of art exhibitions, and musical events throughout the year. The Noble’s Healing Arts programme aims to promote the healing process through these exhibitions, tailor designed artwork for wards and departments, artist-led workshops for patients and community outreach programmes.

Over the past two decades research has shown that access to the arts through music, the environment, poetry, reading, meditation and writing, enhances healing. The programme encourages patients to explore art in a new way, having a beneficial impact on patient recovery and wellbeing.
