Wednesday, 12 June 2013

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, Manx Arts Development, is inviting applications for 2013 Summer Film School.

Summer Film School is now in its seventh year and has become an established training ground for aspiring film-makers. The first event, between 5th and 7th August, will be for ages 8 – 12 and the second, from 12th to 14th August, is for ages 13 – 16.

Film school delivers a comprehensive film making course, age and ability appropriate, for young people with varied previous experience. It includes all aspects of film making and provides opportunities for participants to experience aspects of film making which are new to them and advanced techniques for those with more experience. Tutoring will be provided for various film genres, including animation, and each participant completes at least one film project, individually or as part of a group.

Participants can enter their films into the Young FilmMaker of Mann Competition organised by Manx Arts Development, which offers a top prize of £200 and prizes of £100 for category winners. Selected entries will be shown during the Isle of Man Film Festival. The closing date for entries is Monday, 1 July 2013. Entry forms can be obtained from Manx Arts Development on +44 1624 694598, or email manxartsdevelopment@gov.im and via our website www.iomarts.com.
