New NHS dental provider for Ramsey

Friday, 6 December 2013

The Department of Health is pleased to announce that the NHS dental service based at the Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital will, from 20 January 2014, be delivered by a new NHS provider; Smile Dental Care.

Smile Dental Care is an established provider of NHS dentistry with a number of practices throughout the UK, offering ‘personalised care and dedicated local community support’.

Minister for Health, David Anderson MHK, said:

'This is great news for Ramsey and I’m delighted that Smile Dental Care has been chosen to work with the Department to provide NHS dentistry in this part of the Island.  ‘Smile’ will be offering extended opening hours for the convenience of patients and will also be taking additional patients from the Department’s allocation list.'

Dr Pip Dhariwal, Clinical Director for Smile Dental Care said:

'This is an exciting opportunity for ‘Smile’ and we look forward to working with the Department of Health to provide quality NHS dentistry to our Island patients.'

Dave Kissack, Externally Commissioned Services, Department of Health, added:

'All patients who currently attend the clinic will be advised and their care will be automatically transferred to ‘Smile’.  The Department will manage the allocation of additional patients with priority being given to those people living in the north and I would urge people not to contact the practice directly.  Anyone who has a query relating to being allocated a dentist should contact 642612.  The salaried dental staff currently working out of Ramsey will be redeployed to our Douglas clinics, broadening our ability to deliver our dental services to the public.'
