The Department’s e-Gaming team, led by Mr Alex Downie OBE MLC, together with 14 professional service providers attended the event and put forward a co-ordinated and professional delegation which enabled visitors to discuss legal, financial, data hosting, software, consultancy and corporate services.

With more than 100 industry speakers and over 1,700 delegates from over 60 countries, EiG is mainland Europe’s biggest industry event for decision makers in the online gaming industry. The event offered excellent opportunities for the e-Gaming team and industry representatives to communicate the Island’s strong proposition to delegates at the event.

Alex Downie OBE, MLC, Political Member for e-Gaming, Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development commented:

'EiG is the largest gaming industry event of its type in mainland Europe and it was a great opportunity to demonstrate the quality of the Isle of Man’s e-Gaming sector and its continued status as a world-leading centre of excellence for the industry. We will be working with industry in the Isle of Man to progress the many positive leads that have come out of the event.'
'The Department is already preparing for the next opportunity for the Isle of Man to promote itself in this way, which will be at the ICE exhibition, taking place at Excel, London during February 2013. This will be the biggest international gaming event ever held in the UK.'

Tim Craine, Head of e-Gaming and Technology, said:

'During the last few years the Isle of Man has achieved significant successes in e-Gaming resulting in the growth of a world-leading cluster for gaming and its support infrastructure. The European iGaming Congress and Expo is one of the key events of the year and an important part of the Government’s ongoing strategy to continue to expand this fast growing sector.'
'The event offered a great networking opportunity for new and existing businesses, not only enabling us to position the Island as a premier jurisdiction for e-Gaming but also to showcase our diverse economy.'
