Syria Sanctions

The Treasury advises that on the 21 June 2012 the European Union (Syria Sanctions) (Application) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2012 applied Council Regulation (EU) No. 509/2012 in the Island.

The effect of the application of the Council Regulation is to extend sanctions measures in respect of Syria to include a prohibition or prior authorisation requirement on the sale, supply, transfer or export of goods and technology which might be used for internal repression, and a ban on exports of luxury goods. Technical and financial assistance linked to military equipment or goods or technology that may be used for internal repression is also subject to measures contained in the Council Regulation.

Sanctions Notice 38 will be updated and will be available on the Customs and Excise website.
