Export Control (Amendment) Order 2012

The Treasury advises that the above Order comes into operation with effect from 6 September 2012 and makes several amendments to existing export control legislation in the Island.

The main changes are as follows -

  • To provide for additional offences, penalties and licensing provisions in relation to new restrictive measures against Syria.
  • The new restrictions include prohibitions on the trade of certain goods and technology which might be used for internal repression (including restrictions on their export, import, technical and financial assistance and brokering services), and prohibitions in relation to the movement of luxury goods to Syria.
  • To suspend until 30 April 2013 certain restrictive measures against Burma/Myanmar.
