Export Control (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2012 (Application) Order 2012

The Treasury wishes to make it known that the above Order has been made and will come into effect on 10 August 2012.

It will apply in Island law, with modifications, an Order which makes various amendments to the principal legislation governing export controls and export licensing (the Export Control Order 2008) including -

  • Implementation of the provisions of EU Directive 2009/43/EC on the transfer within the EU of defence-related products;
  • adding propofol to the list of human and veterinary medicinal products subject to control due to the risk of it being used for lethal injections in executions in the USA;
  • providing for a new relief allowing the temporary export of historic military vehicles under certain conditions;
  • making amendments connected with an EU-wide regime for the export, transfer, brokering and transit of dual-use items;
  • allowing for the receipt of European military items under general licences issued by EU Member States.
