Sky Lanterns (Safety Regulations) 2015

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading wishes to make the public aware that as of 1st November 2015, the sale of sky lanterns in the Isle of Man is prohibited.

The Sky Lanterns (Safety) Regulations 2015, prohibit persons from supplying, offering to supply, agreeing to supply, exposing for supply or possessing for supply sky lanterns (also known as Chinese lanterns, flying lanterns, wedding lanterns or party lanterns).

“Sky Lantern” includes any device taking the form of a miniature unmanned hot air balloon or similar that relies on an open flame as a heat source to heat the air inside the sky lantern with the intention of it being elevated into the sky.
