IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE – BEKO CONDENSER TUMBLE DRYERS

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading wishes to make the public aware of an important safety notice issued by Beko concerning 6kg and 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryers. Only products manufactured between May 2012 and October 2012 are affected.

In a small number of incidents an electrical component has failed and overheated leading to a potential risk of fire. Beko believes that the risk is low as these products were independently tested before being placed on the market and meet all UK and European safety standards. Nevertheless, Beko, as a responsible manufacturer, has decided to initiate a voluntary corrective action program as a precautionary measure and would like to offer a free of charge in-home modification.

Consumers are urged to contact Beko immediately about this important issue.

Anyone who believes they have an affected model should follow the steps outlined below as a precautionary measure.

What you need to do:

Check the model number and serial number of your 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryer. The serial number is on the rating plate (see above) and is 10 digits long. The first 2 digits of the serial number give the year of production and the last 2 digits give the month of production.

All affected products were manufactured between May and October 2012. Please contact Beko if your model and serial numbers match those above.

If you own an affected product, please stop using it immediately and disconnect it from the wall socket as a precaution.
