IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE - PRODUCT RECALL: MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Brands affected : Wylex, Crabtree (Loadstar only) and Volex 6, 10 and 16 Amp MCB’s

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading wishes to make consumers aware of a potential safety problem with a limited number of Miniature Circuit Breakers.

Despite rigorous quality and safety checks, Electrium Sales Limited the main UK distributor of the products have warned that the MCB’s (miniature circuit breakers) may not function to the required characteristics which may lead to a potential risk of burning, in a small number of installations.

Other devices are unaffected and devices supplied outside of the dates listed below are also unaffected.

Electrium are advising that anyone who purchased or had installed a Wylex, Crabtree (Loadstar only) or Volex 6, 10 or 16 Amp MCB between 1st April 2009 and 28th February 2010 to contact them by telephone on 0844 5564787 or visit their dedicated webpage for assistance: http://www.mcbexchange.co.uk/electrium.

Electrium have put in place a free retrofit of replacement parts in affected premises. This programme is ongoing and must be carried out by a qualified competent electrician. Under no circumstances should the general public attempt any aspect of this work.
