Fake GHD HairStyler Warning

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is warning consumers about the dangers of buying fake GHD hairstylers.

GHD hairstylers are considered a high quality product and retail at around £130. Genuine stylers carry the GHD two year guarantee. Trading Standards Officers however are aware of a market in fakes that don’t meet safety standards and can result in burns, damage to people’s hair or electrocution.

The fake styling irons are usually purchased from unofficial websites, markets or car boot sales. and can often look like the real thing.

Chairman of the Office of Fair Trading, Bill Henderson MHK offers this advice “If you see goods that look genuine but that are not being sold at reputable retailers you could well be putting yourself in danger. A bargain isn’t a bargain if you end up damaging yourself or worse. Be very wary of such designer goods being sold by other than reputable retailers. Remember if it looks too good to be true then it very probably is.”

If you are in doubt to whether your GHD stylers are genuine or not, you can go online to check on the GHD Official Website. On every genuine GHD styler there is a hologram with a 15 digit number on it; this number can then be entered on the website to find out if there is a problem with your styler or not. Alternatively, you can enter the web address of where you purchased them from and they will tell you whether they are an approved stockist of GHD products.
