Air Passenger Rights – Denied Boarding, Flight Delays and Cancellations

Under European Union (EU) law (Regulation (EC) 261/2004), you have significant rights on many flights to, from or within the EU. Although the Isle of Man is not an EU Member State, your flight may well be covered by this legislation. To be covered, your flight must be either:

• departing from an EU airport and operated by any airline, or

• arriving at an EU airport and operated by an EU airline Under this law, EU airports also include those in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

The Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration has no legal remit to intervene on passenger complaints regarding flights that are covered by Regulation (EC) 261/2004. In such cases passengers should follow the EU process and if necessary contact the relevant National Enforcement Body (See link below).

Although the OFT likewise has no legal remit, we will continue to provide basic advice for passengers pursuing their claims.

Further advice concerning the EU process can be found at:-
