Dr Henrietta Ewart, Director of Public Health said:

'We have a rolling programme of health and lifestyle surveys to ensure that we have up to date information on the main risk factors in our population (weight, physical activity, smoking, alcohol and drug misuse, etc.). Every year we also focus on different additional topics. These topics are chosen because the information gained from the survey will feed directly into service planning. For example, this year we are including questions about gambling in our survey. This is because the Department of Health and Social Care does not currently have comprehensive services and pathways for people with problem gambling and we do not know the extent and patterns of gambling on island. The survey results will be an essential part of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment for Gambling which is currently underway. Future services and pathways will be based on this needs assessment. The survey report, Gambling Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, gambling strategy and implementation plan will all be published on line as they are completed, so people will be able to see how the information from the surveys is used to plan services.'

Confidentiality

All survey answers are anonymous and completely confidential. The survey asks for the first 3 digits of your postcode. This DOES NOT identify your house and no attempt will be made to link the information back to your household.

We will treat the information you give us in the strictest confidence in accordance with the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2002.

If you have been affected by any of the issues raised in this questionnaire, please contact the relevant organisation via the details provided at the end of survey or make an appointment to see your Doctor.
