Foundations Bill 2010Consultation on the Draft Foundations (Continuance) Regulations and Draft Foundations (Winding up) Regulations to be made under the Foundations Bill 2010.

In order to ensure that the legislation can be brought into effect as soon as Royal Assent has been granted, the consultation period that has been allowed for comment on these Regulations is slightly shorter than the customary six weeks. The consultation will start on 16 September 2011 and end on 14 October 2011. Late submissions will be accepted subject to Royal Assent not being granted in time for the Bill and Regulations to be put to the November sitting of Tynwald.

In May 2011 the Department published “Intellectual Property Rights in the Isle of Man: a Consultation Document”. The paper set out a number of possible amendments of the law of the Isle of Man relating to intellectual property to update our legislation and reflect amendments that have been made to this area by law principally in the UK and the European Union. This Review, which needs to be read in conjunction with the original consultation document, sets out the comments that were received by organisations and individuals regarding the suggested amendments. Where appropriate, these are followed by a response from the Department and an overall conclusion.
