Consultation on proposed amendments to the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 (an Act of Parliament) as it is applied to the Island. The main amendments are to the sections of the Act which implement the Convention on Limitation of Maritime Claims 1976 as amended by the 1996 Protocol (LLMC). There are two main proposals - to implement the new higher limits of liability under LLMC which came into effect internationally on 8 June 2015 and to exclude shipowners right to limit liability under LLMC for wreck removal.

The purpose of this paper is to consult on the proposed application of specified European Union (EU) civil aviation security measures to the Isle of Man with appropriate modification, which would replace and update EU legislation previously applied to the Island.

The Department has issued a consultation on a Bill to amend the Aviation and Civil Aviation Act 1987 which would provide the ability to make secondary legislation to meet the Island’s international obligations in respect of civil aviation and to regulate the Island’s civil aviation in general.

Consultation on proposals to make new Regulations to give effect to the latest version of Chapter III of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 (SOLAS).
SOLAS Chapter III contains the requirements for life-saving appliances and arrangements. This includes requirements for lifeboats, rescue boats and lifejackets according to the type of ship the equipment is fitted on. Specific technical requirements for life-saving appliances are contained in the International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code which is mandatory in accordance with SOLAS Chapter III.

Consultation on proposed changes to the ISM, ISPS and Survey and Certification Regulations for cargo ships. The amendments to the Regulations are part of the Ship Registry's project to change its survey and certification regime and to fully delegate ISM, ISPS and MLC verifications to Class.
