Public spirited individuals are being offered the opportunity to play a leading role in preserving and promoting the Isle of Man’s rich heritage.
The Council of Ministers is currently seeking to appoint a chairperson and trustees to the Manx Museum and National Trust.
The organisation, established more than 130 years ago, works at the very heart of Manx heritage and culture, operating 11 museum sites, two visitor centres, the iMuseum and the national library and archive.
Trading as Manx National Heritage, it helps to bring history alive for local families, makes a significant contribution to the visitor economy and engages people around the world through its online resources.
Edmund Southworth, Director of Manx National Heritage, said:
‘This is a wonderful opportunity to join the organisation that preserves, protects and promotes the unique qualities of our natural and cultural heritage. We are looking for the right people to serve as guardians of Manx culture and identity and the Island’s historic and natural landscape.’
Mr Southworth added:
‘The Manx Museum and National Trust has made great strides in recent years, creating family-friendly facilities, presenting collections in new ways and providing more resources online to our growing worldwide audience. We are fortunate to have a huge wealth of talent in the Isle of Man and I would encourage people to come forward and use their skills, energy and experience to support the work of the Manx Museum and National Trust.’
People who feel they have the necessary attributes to take up one of these roles should visit www.gov.im/public-appointments for information about the number of vacancies, terms of appointment and full details of the knowledge and skills required.
