A new website which aims to promote the benefits of living and working in the Isle of Man has been launched.
www.locate.im has been designed specifically to highlight the Isle of Man’s quality of life as well as providing visitors to the site with an impression of what it is like to work here with a ‘social wall’ featuring quotes and case studies from people who have moved here to take up employment.
The initiative is linked to Government’s ambition to grow the Island’s active working population through further inward investment and in attracting skilled labour that cannot be sourced locally in sectors such as nursing and IT.
Minister for Economic Development Laurence Skelly MHK said:
‘Quality of life is increasingly becoming the determining factor when businesses and individuals are making a decision on whether to relocate to a particular destination and the Isle of Man is no exception.
‘Our two other websites (visitisleofman.com and whereyoucan.com) do a good job of promoting the Isle of Man as a place to visit on holiday and a place to do business from. However we recognised that there was no portal to specifically promote our quality of life to the skilled workers we need.’
The website, which was designed by local firm DotPerformance, also provides local organisations with a useful resource to complement their own promotional materials.
Minister Skelly continued:
‘The feedback we received about the site during testing from professional associations, the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce and local firms involved in relocating individuals has been very positive.
‘The Isle of Man continues to offer excellent opportunities for well-paid employment along with good opportunities for career development and progression across a broad range of sectors. I believe that this site will be an excellent source of information to encourage more people to consider the Island as a place to relocate to.
‘We are also encouraging people to promote the Island by using the hashtag #loveiom when posting their images of the Isle of Man in their social media. Our Marketing team will be notified and will then select the best content for upload to the website.’
