Adult passports

Eligibility for an Isle of Man variant of the British Passport

• British citizen/subject living in the Isle of Man or
• British citizen born in the Isle of Man but resident in the UK or
• Naturalised/Registered in the Isle of Man but resident in the UK or
• Naturalised/Registered in the UK and living in the Isle of Man.

You need to submit:

• Correctly completed Application form
• 2 x passport photographs – must meet the criteria set out in the Guidance Notes
• A countersignatory is required
• Correct Fee
• Original full birth or adoption certificate
• If your name has changes since birth we will require the original certificate to state how it has been changed (ie. marriage certificate, deedpoll)
• You will need to attend an interview at the passport office
• Any other passport(s) relating to you – if you hold a foreign passport (ie. you hold dual citizenship) you must submit the foreign passport with the application

You need to submit:

• A countersignatory (if you are not easily recognisable from your previous passport)
• Correct Fee
• Your previous passport
• Any other passport relating to you – if you hold a foreign passport (ie. you hold dual citizenship) you must submit the foreign passport with the application
• If you are making any changes to your previous passport (change of name etc) please ensure you submit the correct supporting documents

Please note:

• You can renew your passport at any stage. You do not need to wait for it to expire. You should however check that your passport has sufficient validity remaining to be accepted at your destination.
• Your passport number will change when you renew the passport

Change your name 

You need to submit:

• Correctly completed Application form
• 2 x passport photographs – must meet the criteria set out in the Guidance Notes
• A countersignatory if you are not easily recognisable from your previous passport
• Correct Fee
• Your previous passport
• Any other passport relating to you – if you hold a foreign passport (i.e. you hold dual citizenship) you must submit the foreign passport with the application
• In addition please supply proof of name change - supporting documents table
  
  

Change your photograph

You need to submit:

• Correctly completed Application form
• 2 x passport photographs – must meet the criteria set out in the Guidance Notes
• A countersignatory if you are not easily recognisable from your previous passport
• Correct Fee
• Your previous passport
• Any other passport relating to you – if you hold a foreign passport (i.e. you hold dual citizenship) you must submit the foreign passport with the application

Change of address

Your address is not included on your passport and is only used for posting your new passport to you.

You do not need to notify our office of a change of address unless you have a passport application in progress.

If replacing a damaged passport you need to submit:

• Correctly completed Application form
• 2 x passport photographs – must meet the criteria set out in the Guidance Notes
• Your previous passport – even if badly damaged it must be submitted
• A countersignatory is required
• Correct Fee

If replacing a lost or stolen passport you need to submit:

• Correctly completed Application form
• 2 x passport photographs – must meet the criteria set out in the Guidance Notes
• A countersignatory is required
• Correct Fee
• Completed Lost & Stolen Notification – Form LS01

If your passport has been lost or stolen abroad:

You should report all passport losses or thefts to the local police in the country you are in as soon as possible. You will need the crime reference details they provide for the lost or stolen notification Form LS01.

You should report the theft or loss to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Embassy, Consulate or High Commission of the country you are in. When you make a report to the FCO, they will give you a Form LS01 to complete and sign.

The FCO will record the loss or theft of your passport and forward the information to Her Majesty’s Passport Office who will then cancel your passport to reduce the risk of someone else using your identity.

Please note that if your passport is lost and handed to the Police or into our office they will not be able to return it to you and it will be destroyed.

All applications made from outside of the United Kingdom, Isle of Man or Channel Islands must be made through the UK Government.
