Parking and parking permits
The Department currently operates a policy disc parking zones in the Island's Towns and Villages. Non residents wishing to park in these areas must display a parking disc in their vehicle showing the time of arrival in the parking place. Discs are usually available from vehicle hire firms, the Sea Terminal, Douglas, Police Stations, Post Offices and local Commissioners' Offices throughout the Island.

Blue badges are issued to people who are disabled or find extreme difficulty in walking long distances, to enable them to park their car more conveniently.
The Department of Infrastructure provides reserved parking places for disabled people who are permanently unable to walk or have considerable difficulty walking, who have no alternative off street parking available such as a drive or nearby garage and live in an area where parking is difficult. They are also available for members of the emergency services, any application would require a letter of support from their officer in charge.
Disc parking zones are in effect within towns and villages throughout the Island. The purpose of these zones is to restrict long term parking of visitors or commuters within the zone.
The hours of operation in retail areas are generally:
- Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm
and in residential areas:
- Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.
Residents who live within disc parking zones are eligible to apply for a resident’s parking permit which allows them to park in the area without being subject to the time restrictions placed by the disc zone regulations.

How do I report an illegally parked or abandoned vehicle?
The Department may remove illegally parked vehicles from a road. It is also able to remove abandoned vehicles from any land.

Has my vehicle been removed?
To clarify if your vehicle has been removed under such circumstances, you can call the Police on +44 1624 631212.
You may also phone the Department’s parking control team on +44 1624 685850 during normal office hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm).
How do I recover my vehicle?
You must pay the prescribed fees for its release. Currently, this is £108 for the cost of its removal and £12 per day, or part day thereof, for its storage whilst in the custody of the Department.
Please phone +44 1624 685850 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm) to arrange payment. You may pay by card or arrange to attend in person at the sea Terminal if you wish to pay cash. Once payment has been received, the Department will authorise its release and provide you with details of where it may be collected.
