Provide your views on Active Travel proposals

Wednesday, 13 September 2017

People are being encouraged to take part in an online survey to provide their views on proposals to promote Active Travel in the Isle of Man.

The Department of Infrastructure launched a public consultation in July, which runs until Monday 25 September. Feedback will help to inform an Action Plan to promote walking and cycling for everyday journeys of necessity.

Creating a culture and environment that encourages more people to be physically active is seen as a good way to improve the health of the nation and to achieve safer and more pleasant streets, reduced traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions and better air quality.

Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer MHK said:

‘The benefits of Active Travel for our people and our communities are considerable. Walking and cycling are simple, low-cost and effective ways for most people to include physical activity in their daily lives.’

He added:

‘There’s still time to respond to the public consultation and help shape our vision for Active Travel.’

Information is available on the Government consultation hub and people are invited to respond via the online survey. Alternatively, submissions can be emailed to SPP.DOI@gov.im or sent to Strategy, Policy and Performance Division, Department of Infrastructure, Sea Terminal, Douglas, IM1 2RF.

Comments must be received by 4pm on Monday 25 September.
