Changes to parking arrangements at Noble’s Hospital

Thursday, 3 October 2019

Parking enforcement rules are to be introduced at Noble’s Hospital for the first time.

A Parking Order due to take effect later this month will include parking on the Noble’s site in the regime which governs off-street public parking elsewhere in the Island.

When the Order is in place, the hospital’s parking areas will be subject to standard law enforcement policies and actively policed. This will include a requirement that only those with appropriate permits will be entitled to use disabled parking spaces. Penalties including fines will be issued to those who breach the new regulations.

The Order, which will be brought into force through powers held by the Department of Infrastructure, also means that vehicles can be checked for in-date tax discs and drivers penalised for parking in restricted areas.

The decision has been made to ensure fair and practical parking rules are understood by staff, patients and visitors, and in light of concerns that disabled parking bays are too often unavailable for those who need them, due to non-permit holders occupying them.

All parking areas on the hospital site will be affected by the Order with the exception of the car parks at Isle of Man Hospice and Manannan Court.
