Worker Migrant guidance

The Worker Migrant route enables non-British and non-Irish nationals to come to the Isle of Man in order to undertake an employment position which cannot be filled by a Settled Worker.

Worker Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Migrant guidance

The Worker ICT Migrant route enables multinational employers to transfer their existing employees from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to their Isle of Man branch for training purposes or to fill a specific vacancy.

Worker Migrant Health and Care visa guidance

Worker Migrant Health and Care visa allows qualifying health professionals and their families to benefit from a lower application fee and a fast-tracked application process when applying for a Worker Migrant visa.

Worker (Seasonal) Migrant – Route Closed

Notice is given that from 9 November 2023 the 'Worker (Seasonal) Migrant' route has closed to new applicants.

This route was introduced in 2022 as a temporary route. It has been closed for a full review of the need for such a route, the requirements, its application and effectiveness.

All other Visa routes, including Worker Migrant, remain unaffected and operational.

Any Worker (Seasonal) Migrant visa applications made prior to 9 November 2023 will continue to be assessed as normal.

All Worker (Seasonal) Migrant visas that have already been issued will continue to be valid until their expiry date, and all existing conditions placed on them remain in place.

Anyone considering applying for a Worker (Seasonal) Migrant confirmation of Employment or Visa is encouraged to look at the requirements of the Worker Migrant route as an alternative.

Tier 5 - Temporary Workers guidance

The Tier 5 - Temporary Workers route is for certain types of temporary workers whose entry helps to satisfy cultural, charitable, religious or international objectives, including volunteering and job shadowing.

Tier 5 - Youth Mobility Workers guidance

The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Workers route is specifically for those aged between 18 and 30 and from either Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, British overseas citizen, British overseas territories citizen, British national (overseas) who wish to live and work in the Isle of Man for up to 24 monhts. 

Apply for Entry Clearance

Applicants living overseas who wish to come to the Isle of Man to work and who hold a valid Confirmation of Employment, must apply online from their country of residence. The British Embassy will after some initial processes, refer the visa application to Isle of Man Immigration Service for decision.

Apply to renew your visa

Applicants living in the Isle of Man who wish to renew their worker migrant or worker ICT migrant visa and who hold a valid Confirmation of Employment, should apply to the Isle of Man Immigration Service using form FLR W. Dependants of a worker migrant or worker ICT migrant should use form FLR DEP.

Your most recent Confirmation of Employment, which must have also been issued within the last 3 months, must be used to support your application.

Work Permit

The Department for Enterprise is responsible for the economic development of the Isle of Man and issues Work Permits to anyone not classed as an Isle of Man worker.

A holder of an Immigration Employment Document (IED) is exempt from the requirement for a work permit.

An IED is a document, issued in accordance with the Immigration Act which does not preclude the holder from taking up employment in the Island and evidences 

  • leave to enter (whether limited or indefinite)
  • leave to remain (whether limited or indefinite)
  • both

but excludes a certificate of entitlement to a right of abode in the Isle of Man or the UK.
