The Treasury advises that amendments to the Export Control Order 2008, Council Regulation (EC) No. 428/2009 and Regulation (EU) 2019/125, as they have effect in the Island, came into force on 16 December 2025.
The amendments reflect international standards and include:
- Updates to controls on the exports of conventional weapons agreed through the multilateral export control regime known as the Wassenaar Arrangement
- Updates the country listings to reflect recent changes in the UK’s export control policy regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan, lifting the arms embargo on both countries
- New controls relating to electronics and semiconductor manufacturing equipment and special materials
- Aligning the list of goods that could be used for capital punishment torture with changes to the corresponding EU controls
