Apply for a National Insurance Number

You will normally be sent a National Insurance Number just before your 16th birthday.

If you have never lived or worked in the Isle of Man or UK previously or you have reached Age 16 and not been issued with a National Insurance number you can apply for a number by completing the form CA5400. A copy is available on our forms page under National Insurance, or you can contact the office on 685400 and one can be posted to you.

Once you have completed the form you will be required to attend the counter in person and produce two forms of identification (ID), one of which must be photographic. You do not require an appointment to do this.

If you have a UK National Insurance number and have relocated to the Isle of Man this is still valid and you do not need to apply for a Manx National Insurance Number.

If you are aged 15 and in employment you will also require a National Insurance number.

In the first instance please complete and submit form T18, a copy is available on our forms page under Personal Tax.

If you have already completed and returned the T18 form please contact the office on +44 1624 685400.
