On 15 December 2017, the European Union (Russia Sanctions) (Amendment) (No. 3) Order 2017 [SD 2017/0370] came into operation, applying in Island law Council Regulation (EU) 2017/2212 of 30 November 2017.

Council Regulation (EU) 2017/2212 amends Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 833/2014 to insert a new paragraph 2aa in order to permit certain operations concerning the purchase or sale of rocket fuel hydrazine, required for the joint Russian-European space project ExoMars, from the list of sanctions against Russia.

On 15 December 2017, the Russia Sanctions (No. 3) (Amendment) Regulations 2017, also came into operation making consequential amendments to the Russia Sanctions (No. 3) Regulations 2014.
