Planning Committee Membership

Planning decisions affect the economy, the environment and the interests of individuals, landowners and developers. Planning decisions must be made in a way that is fair and impartial.

Most applications are determined at Officer level under the delegated authority of the Department, with a small number being directed for determination by the Planning Committee which meets fortnightly in public.

Planning Committee members may be appointed for terms of up to five years, and are recruited as and when vacancies may arise. 

At such time persons with the knowledge and enthusiasm required for a public appointment are invited to apply to the Department should they wish to be considered for the Planning Committee. Advertisements are placed in the press at times of recruitment.

The Department is not currently looking to recruit to the Committee.
