Planning Applications

Development Management - Planning Applications and Decisions

The Planning legislation exists to safeguard and enhance the environment, and to ensure that conflicting pressures for land use are determined with the community's best interests in mind. In doing so planning deals with proposals for all developments across the island. It tries to achieve the right balance between encouraging developments which provides homes, jobs and services for the community and protecting the special features of the towns, villages and countryside.

The proper consideration of planning applications constitutes a significant part of the work undertaken by Planning, in accordance with the Planning Charter.
