Planning Applications

Development Management - Planning Applications and Decisions

The Planning legislation exists to safeguard and enhance the environment and to ensure that conflicting pressures for land use are determined with the community's best interests in mind. In doing so the planning authority must assess proposals for all development across the island. The Department must apply corporate and agreed policies and achieve the right balance between encouraging developments which provide homes, jobs and services for the community, whilst protecting the special features of the towns, villages and countryside.
