Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival
For a small island the Isle of Man excels in the quality and variety of its locally produced food and drink – and what better way to celebrate this than at the Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival?
We are pleased to announce that this year the Gold sponsor is Magnet Ltd, Silver sponsor is Robinsons and in association with Manx Radio.
The 2016 Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival will take place at the Villa Marina Gardens on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September. The programme is now available by downloading from the downloadable documents.
Visitors to the 2015 event, held in the Villa Marina Gardens had a huge choice of stands to enjoy, including 14 first-time exhibitors, plenty of opportunities to sample local food and drink, plus entertainment. For the first time, an evening of food, drink and live music proved very successful with street food on sale, a bar, plus entertainment from a local band.
This Festival equalled the attendance record set by the inaugural event, with 7,000 visiting the two-day celebration of local produce and cooking. The first festival in 2009 – where the Hairy Bikers were a big draw – also attracted 7,000.
There was a high standard among the 55 exhibitors, making the job of choosing the best stand difficult for judges Minister Richard Ronan MHK, and top international chef Colin Clague who awarded the first prize to Berries Luxury Pudding Makers and Confectioners.
Each year the Festival welcomes local chefs to compete in competitions and this year James Stubbs from The Courthouse won the title of Isle of Man Chef of the Year (recipe Manx Lambs Liver) and Nicole Crawley won the Isle of Man Student Chef of the Year Competition (recipe Manx Lamb broth).
