Local Authority Election

General Elections

The next Local Authority General Election are due to take place on Thursday 24 April 2025.

Local Authority General Elections take place on the 4th thursday in April every 4 years. The Cabinet Office will publish a notice of election, which will highlight the number of Commissioners and Councillors required in each Local Authority District or Ward, and will also set out the deadline dates people need to be aware of if intending to submit a postal or proxy vote.

By-Elections

Local Authorities may call By-elections as required to fill casual vacancies which may arise between General Elections. The Local Authority will publish a notice of election, which will highlight the number of Commissioners and Councillors required in their Local Authority District or Ward, and will also set out the deadline dates people need to be aware of if intending to submit a postal or proxy vote.

Candidates
