Older Persons Housing

Older persons (sheltered) housing, on the Isle of Man, is a specialist housing provision targeted at older people who wish to live in a community of people of a similar age with the benefit of access to a "good neighbour" Warden or Scheme Manager who will look after the complex and check on a regular basis (usually daily) that all is well. Each tenant holds a tenancy to their own self-contained accommodation within the Older Persons complex, and is personally responsible for meeting those tenancy requirements. Older Person's Housing is not a substitute for Residential Care or Nursing Home facilities.

Common criteria for waiting list

The Department does not hold any older persons (sheltered) housing stock on the Island. Therefore, in order to apply for acceptance on to an older persons (sheltered) housing waiting list, or for any further advice in relation to sheltered housing, you should contact the relevant sheltered housing authority. This depends on the location of the sheltered property/complex you have in mind.
