Public Sector Housing

Public sector housing in the Isle of Man is provided by a variety of housing authorities, which manage different areas of the Island. These areas consist of Braddan, Castletown, Douglas, Onchan, Peel, Port Erin, Port St Mary and Ramsey. The Department of Infrastructure provides public sector housing in areas where there is no functioning housing authority. The Public Estates and Housing Division's contact details are:

The Department's public sector housing is located in various areas within the Island and totals approximately 1200 houses. Follow the link to the map to see where the Department's public sector houses are situated.

Eligibility for a public sector house in the Isle of Man is dependent upon meeting certain criteria, which are covered on our Acceptance Criteria and Points page. The page also includes an application form which you can complete if you wish to apply to join the Department's Housing Waiting List. However, among other things, you will need to have been resident on the Island for at least 10 years, and have been resident in an area(s) in which the Department has houses for at least 5 years.

Newsletters

The Department issues periodic newsletters to provide updates on various issues, for example, the status of new constructions or refurbishments, and the impact on tenants. Once prepared, the latest newsletter will appear on this page to download.
