Surgical and Amputees - Ward 1, 2 and ITU

Surgical Wards 1 and 2 are covered by a physiotherapist who will help patients awaiting or recovering from a surgical procedure. Patients may need advice about what to expect following surgery, how to move and exercise safely the first time.

Patients undergoing vascular surgery, in particular limb amputation, will be seen by a physiotherapist on the ward and also as an outpatient on discharge. The therapist will work closely with the wheelchair and prosthetic limb provision agencies.

Physiotherapists working on the High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provide the specialised care of patients whose conditions are life threatening and who require comprehensive care and constant monitoring.
