Orthopaedics - Ward 11 and 12

The Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service is for patients who are admitted to Noble's Hospital for:

  • planned knee and hip replacement surgery
  • procedures including knee, shoulder, ankle, foot, and some hand surgery
  • patients who are admitted following an accident or injury

After your surgery, if you are admitted to the ward, we will help you get back up on your feet again, provide you with exercises to strengthen your joint and provide you with a suitable walking aid. We will also help identify problems that may limit your daily activities and assist you in finding solutions to ensure you can return to your normal activities, be independent and have a safe discharge home.

Patients who have a knee or hip replacement will be invited to come to an exercise group that we run, you will be given a letter before you go home.

If you are having day surgery, you may be seen before your operation and provided with advice and exercises that you can do to help your recovery. You may also be referred to the Orthopaedic Outpatient Team if you require ongoing rehabilitation. If you need physiotherapy provided by another service you will be referred by the ward physiotherapist.
