This is a children's physiotherapy out-patient service which is offered to children from birth to 12 years (or up to 16 depending on the presenting problem) who present with a musculoskeletal (MSK) problem.  Children older than 12 may be seen instead in the Physiotherapy MSK self-referral service following a GP referral.

Children are assessed in clinic and given treatment, advice and exercises to support their recovery and assist them to return to normal or improved levels of function as far as possible.

Children attending this service may present with various conditions or difficulties

  • Congenital conditions e.g talipes, torticollis and plagiocephaly
  • Acute injuries e.g fractures or sporting injuries
  • Orthopaedic conditions e.g Severs disease or Osgood- Schaltters

There are some conditions that would not be treated by a physiotherapist as they are considered within the normal range e.g. curly toes or in-toeing below the age of 10 years.

Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 4:30pm

We do not offer an out of hours' service.

How to access

Children's outpatient service can be accessed with a referral from a medical professional such as your child's GP or health visitor.

Suitable referrals are prioritised and depending on need they may incur a slight waiting time according to their priority.
