Community midwifery services

Community midwives provide advice, care and support for women, their partners and families before, during and after childbirth. They help women make their own decisions about the care and services that are available to them, whether to deliver their baby at home or at Noble's Hospital.

All women that deliver at the Jane Crookall Maternity Unit are visited the day after they go home and a plan of visits is discussed. Community midwives care for newborn babies and mothers providing health education and parenting support up to 28 days, after which, care is transferred to a health visitor.
