Our podiatry teams provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disease and conditions affecting the foot and lower limb. Our treatments are focused on relieving symptoms, improving function, disease prevention, and maintaining independence and well-being. All members of the Podiatry Team are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

We provide a range of foot health related services including:

  • Screening and treatment of at-risk patients
  • Chronic and acute ulcer management
  • Nail surgery
  • Removal of corns, and other soft tissue lesions
  • Health promotion, education and advice
  • Maintenance care for chronic and irreversible foot problems

Eligibility criteria for the service is restricted to individuals that have a medical risk and foot condition, which could put them at risk such as infection or ulceration or amputation.

Corrective nail surgery under local anaesthetic is available for individuals with or without a medical risk that have a problem that cannot be managed conservatively.

Access to podiatry services

Patients can be referred by their GP, nurse, health visitor, social services and other healthcare professional. The Podiatry Service does not accept self-referrals and referrals are triaged by a Podiatrist with the information provided on the referral

Waiting times

Depending on the urgency of your foot problem waiting times may vary. All referrals are triaged by Podiatrists.

We have a range of podiatry clinics around the island. You will usually be seen at:

  • The Podiatry Clinic, Central Community Health Centre, Westmoreland Road, Douglas Isle of Man IM1 4QA
  • The Podiatry Clinic, Thie Rosien, Castletown Road, Port Erin, Isle of Man IM9 6BD
  • The Podiatry Clinic, Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital, Ramsey IM8 3RH
  • The Western Wellbeing Centre, Derby Road, Peel, Isle of Man, IM5 1HP
  • The podiatry team can also visit you in your home if you're housebound, Hospice, nursing and residential care homes and hospital wards
  • There is also a service at the prison

Please note that there are no reception services at these sites.

If you have a foot emergency that cannot wait until your GP's surgery is next open, you should telephone your usual doctor's surgery and a recorded message will inform you of the number to call.

The Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS) operates when your GP surgery is closed. Telephone: +44 1624 650355.

Is your foot problem an emergency

If you develop any of the following foot problems, it is important that you contact Manx Care Podiatry Team or GP for advice as soon as possible (within 24 hours).

  • A red, hot, swollen toe or foot
  • A new break or wound in the skin
  • New redness or discolouration of your toe or foot
  • New or unexplained pain in your foot
