Foot health awareness

Children's feetFoot Health promotion is used to educate the general public, patients and staff. Education is a continual process as changes to a patient's health and feet can occur.

On request group talks can be given to nursing homes and carers. Information is given on what is classed a problem foot, what to look out for and who to contact if a problem occurs. Nail care, foot hygiene, footwear and shoe fitting are all very important to patients unable to do this for themselves.

Equally important is the emphasis on self-care, encouraging individuals to continue nail care if they are fit to do so with advice and information.

Health education can be as simple as verbal advice, or leaflets given at a time of a consultation to help patients understand different foot conditions, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Nail surgery
  • Biomechanics
  • Wound care
  • Arthritis
  • Athletes foot
  • Nail conditions
  • Verrucae
  • Foot wear
