Eligibility for Podiatry Services (foot care)

The Community podiatry service provides podiatry (foot) care across the Island - together with specialist services for priority groups and those eligible for care as part of a specialist service. Podiatry is only be available to high risk individuals whose medical history, medication or foot pathology may put them at risk of developing potentially serious foot problems such as infections or ulcerations or amputations.

Services include:

  • core podiatry for at risk groups with foot problems
  • management of high risk feet
  • nail surgery

Plus specialised clinics involving:

  • high risk diabetics
  • high risk feet
  • chronic painful skin lesions
  • mental health patients
  • the prison service

To meet the individual treatment needs of patients, care is personalised and planned. This includes patient empowerment, choice and multi-disciplinary care.

How to access the service

Patients must be referred into the service by their GP, Community nurse or other health professional.
