As you get older, the risk of developing dementia increases. Get the facts and find support.

Dementia is commonly associated with memory loss, however, there are more symptoms that typically emerge as a result of the syndrome such as impaired judgement, confusion, loss of language and lack of emotional control.

  • With an increase in life expectancy, this is estimated to rise to 1 million by the year 2021
  • 1 in 3 people over 65 will develop dementia
  • Two thirds of dementia sufferers are women

An Isle of Man charity, Manx Decaf is a monthly dementia cafe where sufferers of memory problems, carers, families and friends of people with dementia can meet to socialise and receive support.
