Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIU)

Ramsey MIU is principally staffed by nurse practitioners, who are trained to work independently to diagnose and treat minor injuries and illnesses.

MIU is equipped for urgent treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, such as: 

  • Severe sunburn or another type of burn/scald
  • A dislocation or break (no obvious deformity)
  • Sprains
  • Emergency contraception
  • Muscular pain
  • A bite or rash
  • A bad cut that you can't treat yourself at home
  • A minor head injury (with no loss of consciousness or vomiting)

Opening hours

8am to 8pm (last booking 7:30pm): 5 days a week, including bank holidays.

Weekends / Out of hours: If you need support and cannot wait until your GP is open, please contact Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS) on +44 1624 650355 (open 24 hours during the weekend), or attend the Emergency Department at Noble’s. If the situation is life or limb threatening, call 999.

When you arrive at the hospital please go to the main reception and speak to the receptionist. The receptionist will then direct you to an appropriate waiting area.

Requesting an appointment

The MIU is a walk-in service, so simply come into the main reception at RDCH.

If possible, please bring a list of all current medication you are taking.
