Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIU)

Where to find us

When you arrive at the hospital please go to the main reception and speak to the receptionist.  The receptionist will then direct you to an appropriate waiting area.

If you arrive at MIU outside of opening hours (8am to 8pm), there is a yellow phone at the main entrance.  If you pick up the phone and press the number 1 button, this will go directly to the emergency services from which an ambulance can be arranged. By pressing number 3, you will be put through to MEDS.

Opening Hours

8am - 8pm Daily including bank holidays

Out of hours: advice can be found by contacting MEDS or Noble's A&E

During the TT fortnight: 8am - 8pm Daily including bank holidays. X-ray provision on weekends and bank holidays.

Requesting an appointment

The MIU is a walk-in service, so simply come into the main reception at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital and speak to the receptionist.

If possible, please bring a list of all current medication you are taking.

The nurse practitioners can refer patients directly to Noble's Hospital and organise admission. Depending on the patient's condition, the MIU staff would either arrange an ambulance or help to arrange for the patient to get there by themselves.

Contacts

For more information about MIU please contact the reception. If you are unsure whether MIU is the appropriate place for your condition, please contact the MIU department directly.
