You MUST be a current patient under the Gastroenterology service with a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s to access this. Messages will be answered as soon as possible.

If you are concerned you may have inflammatory Bowel Disease but not yet diagnosed please contact your GP.

Please contact your GP directly for any suspected flares in the first instance, they will then arrange tests for you.

For any email or voicemail please leave your full name, date of birth and hospital number if you know it, and a brief message. By emailing us you agree to share your data via email. The email line is not for urgent queries or flares.

The detail of your message will prioritise a reply.

Messages will be screened on Monday's between 12:30pm - 3pm and Friday's 3pm - 4pm. Please be aware this is not for emergencies. This is currently a limited service.

If you have problematic IBD symptoms you are advised to seek advice from your GP.

Please be aware you may not receive a reply the same day, but we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can call the consultant secretarial team on 650146.

Please inform us of any change of circumstances surrounding your IBD such as pregnancy or side effects of medication.

Gastroenterology is the field of medicine covering diseases of the digestive system. Gastroenterologists diagnose, treat and manage conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas and gallbladder. 

Gastroenterology specialists see patients most often for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GeRD), GI cancer, pancreatic cancer, hepatitis, cirrhosis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colitis, Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).  Symptoms of diseases that are caused by digestive problems include constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, indigestion, rectal bleeding, weight loss and abdominal pain.  

Outpatient clinical services are offered at Noble’s Hospital and Ramsey District Cottage Hospital.  

The Endoscopy unit at Noble’s hospital is home to high quality facilities that include three procedure rooms, single sex recovery bays, decontamination facilities and a dedicated patient reception and waiting area. It offers services for gastrointestinal, urological and respiratory investigations with endoscopes (flexible cameras inserted into the body).

  • Haemorrhoid banding
  • Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy insertion (PEG)
  • Polypectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection
  • Oesophageal and colonic dilation
