Urodynamic Clinic 

Urodynamic testing is a procedure to help diagnose problems with passing urine or incontinence. The test enables the Consultant to accurately diagnose the reason for the incontinence and so offer the appropriate treatment. The clinic is part of the Urognaecolgy service and is manned by a specialist Consultant and a Nurse. The clinic is held alternate Thursday mornings in the Women and Children’s outpatients in the East Wing of the hospital.

PTNS Clinic (PERCUTANEOUS Tibial Nerve Stimulation) 

PTNS is a treatment for overactive bladder. Bladder function is regulated by a group of nerves at the base of the spine called the sacral nerve plexus. By stimulating theses nerves through gentle electrical impulses the bladder activity can be changed. A fine needle is placed in the patient’s ankle and a small electrical current is passed through it. The treatment takes thirty minutes weekly for twelve weeks and , if successful, a one of booster session of thirty minutes is given every three months. The PTNS clinic is part of the Urogynaecology service and is a Nurse ran clinic with input from the Urogynae Consultant and the Nurse Continence advisor. It takes place on a Monday afternoon in the Women and Children’s outpatients in the East wing of the Hospital
