Student grants

The Department of Education Sport and Culture provides financial support for students undertaking further or higher education, subject to them meeting certain eligibility criteria laid out in the Regulations approved by Tynwald. 

This site provides a general outline of the funding available for students commencing the first year of their course in September or October 2018 and for continuing students. This information is provided for guidance only as each applicant must be assessed on individual circumstances based on the details provided in their application and the Student Awards Regulations. Applicants are required to read the available guidance before making an application for an Award. 

Particular attention should be given to the sections explaining the contribution you will need to make towards your tuition fees and the availability of loans to cover this contribution.

Student Awards Messages Bulletin – latest news & information

Year 1 students - We are now able to take ‘conditional’ applications from new Year 1 students. Those who have already applied will shortly receive their conditional letter.

Year 2 and 3 students - Students commencing their Year 2 and 3 studies will receive a direct link to the application portal by email on Monday 16 July. 

Ahead of you receiving this email you should click on this link and create your own Online Services Account. You will need your National Insurance Number for this.

Other continuing students – Hardcopy application forms will be posted to other continuing students shortly.

Student loan statements –  If you have any queries or updates regarding your SA Loan repayments please contact

All Student Loan accounts that have been fully repaid will receive Closed Account Statements at the end of July.
