New Marketing Apprenticeship Launched

Monday, 13 March 2017

The Department of Economic Development and The Marketing Partnership, the Isle of Man’s only accredited Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Study Centre, have announced the launch of a new Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme which promises to offer exciting benefits for budding marketers as well as local industry.

Tim Crookall MLC, the Department’s Member for Employment and Skills, said:

‘I am delighted that we are able to announce the launch of another professional Apprenticeship Scheme for the Isle of Man. The Department helped over 400 people engage in apprenticeships last year across a range of sectors, and the new Marketing Apprenticeship is a great addition. The apprenticeship offers an exciting career choice for people who want to work in the marketing teams of local organisations and also supports local businesses here with the training costs of a new recruit. Although it is primarily aimed at young people, there is no age limit for applicants.’

Apprentices on the one year scheme will work with their employer for four days a week, with one day per week, day release. On the day release, the candidate will undertake guided learning as part of their tuition course and be required to attend the study centre on a weekly basis, initially undertaking the CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing (Level 3) with modules ‘Marketing Principles’ and ‘Digital Essentials’, plus the first module of the CIM Certificate in Marketing (Level 4) ‘Marketing’.

The scheme will start in September 2017 and will initially offer 6 places with a limit of one apprentice per company.

Heather Blackley, Director of The Marketing Partnership, said:

‘Marketing is a core competency for all organisations and good marketing is an integral part of any successful business. The new Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme is an exciting opportunity for local people to experience a whole variety of marketing opportunities while achieving professionally recognised CIM qualifications right here on the Isle of Man.’

Teresa Foulkes, Assistant Director of Learning at The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), commented:

‘CIM is proud to be involved in such a fantastic new scheme which recognises the value professional marketing qualifications add to the individual and the business. We would encourage budding marketers or seasoned professionals working in the Isle of Man to find out more information about this new scheme and discover the benefits a professional marketing apprenticeship has to offer.’

Further information and details on how to apply can be found by visiting the Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme or by contacting Heather Blackley.
