CRHS welcomes September 2017 student intake

Monday, 16 January 2017

Castle Rushen High School is opening its doors on two evenings over the coming weeks.

The first event takes place on Thursday 26 January, starting at 6pm. This is for students who are currently in Year 6 and will be going to secondary school in September, along with their parents. There will be an opportunity to hear from and talk to the Headteacher, subject teachers and pastoral leaders and to have a look round the school. New students can explore the ways in which CRHS staff work with primary schools and parents to help ensure that any anxieties are addressed and that children are happy, healthy and learning well from their time of joining the school right through to when they leave it.

Thursday 2 February is the Sixth Form Open Evening. This is for Year 11 students who may have an interest in undertaking their post-16 studies at Castle Rushen High School, whether as a stepping stone to Higher Education or to the world of work, and their parents. The audience will understand what it means to be in Sixth Form at CRHS, including study and skills opportunities, the support provided, the school’s focus, and its expectations. The evening runs from 6 to 8 pm, starting with a presentation in the School Hall from the Headteacher and senior staff. Following that, students and parents will roam around, exploring their interests and options and asking questions of specialist subject teachers throughout the school.

Says Headteacher Keith Winstanley:

'These evenings are an important part of our calendar which help smooth the transition from Primary to Secondary and from compulsory to post-16 education respectively. Attendance provides real confidence to our new students and helps them make sound choices. We look forward greatly to getting to know students and their parents as individuals and to working together within our friendly environment to do the best for our young people.'
