New headteacher for Cronk Y Berry School

Alex Quane has been appointed as the new headteacher for Cronk Y Berry School.

Mrs Quane has worked in teaching since 1998, including most recently, seven years as deputy headteacher at Bunscoill Rhumsaa.

She was educated at Ramsey Grammar School before training to be a teacher at St Martin’s College, Lancaster, and gaining the National Professional Qualification for Headship.

Mrs Quane, said:

‘I am delighted to take on the role of headteacher at Cronk Y Berry School. My aim is to build on their current strengths and successes, and I’m excited to be a part of this new chapter. I am looking forward to getting to know everybody and becoming part of the community.

‘I would like to thank everyone at Bunscoill Rhumsaa for making the last seven years so memorable.’

She will take over from Rob Sellors, who retired earlier this year following 30 years in teaching at Rushen, Arbory and Cronk Y Berry.

Dr Alex Allinson MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture said:

‘We are looking forward to working with Alex in her new role and we are confident the school will flourish under her leadership.

‘The department would like to thank Rob for his hard work and dedication over many years and wish him all the best for a happy and fulfilling future.’

Mrs Quane will take over the role on 1 September 2020.
